The Chancellor of Gadjah Mada University (UGM) Panut Mulyono decided to free one semester of single tuition for students from disaster-affected areas such as Palu, Sigi, Donggala, Lombok and West Sumbawa.
"Exempting single tuition (UKT) for one semester for UGM students who come from areas affected by significant disasters," Panut said through a written statement on Friday (5/10).
UGM will also provide direct and indirect assistance to living expenses for UGM students whose areas have been affected by the disaster. In addition, lecture facilities (sit in) will also be provided free of charge for students affected by the disaster.
"Providing a free place to stay in the student dormitory as long as the student follows the lecture at UGM according to the available capacity," he said.
To provide psychological consultation, UGM will also prepare a team of counselors from the Faculty of Psychology and Gama Medical Center (GMC) free of charge. UGM will prepare special courses and interdisciplinary disaster modules.
The Faculty of Medicine, Public Health and Nursing (FKKMK) UGM in collaboration with the Association of State University Medical Faculty will accept students from disaster-affected areas who take the medical profession to study at UGM in accordance with the available capacity. UGM also fielded cross-field and cross-border joint teams in Palu.
This joint team will move with the Gadjah Mada Alumni Family (KAGAMA), the regional government, and other related parties both nationally and internationally. "UGM immediately sent a Disaster Care KKN in Palu to do a month's service," Panut said.
