Candidate vice president Sandiaga Uno said the National Winning Agency (BPN) Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga was reviewing the slogan "Make Indonesia Great Again" into a campaign slogan. According to him, Indonesia now needs to be returned in its heyday.
According to Sandiaga, Indonesia's heyday could be seen from the time of the kingdom. Indonesia once triumphed in the name of the Kingdom of Sriwijaya and Majapahit.
"Indonesia's economy also grows above 5-7 percent, so the king is export, oil and gas is strong, food self-sufficiency, our energy is sovereign. This is a lot of people who miss that. I think this will be studied whether it is a slogan," he said.
Sandiaga considered that there was nothing wrong with Prabowo's statement. He explained, "Make Indonesia Great Again" if it is translated means to achieve Indonesia's glory again.
"Well, we miss a strong, victorious nation, and this is a healthy discourse. A strong nation, a victorious nation, has to be repaired its economy," he said.
About many parties who accuse Prabowo of picking up Donald Trump's style when campaigning, Sandi asserted, the community does not have to be allergic to learning from anywhere. According to him, as long as it does not violate the Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, or other existing rules, there is no harm in using the slogan.
Sandiaga said, basically people want Indonesia to be a strong country and a dignified nation. "A tagline that evokes our enthusiasm and that is to encourage us," he said.
He appealed to the people not to be trapped in the dichotomy of Trump's slogan or not. After all, the term is very meaningful in general.
According to him, Prabowo delivered "Make Indonesia Great Again" with enthusiasm. That spirit, he said, was revealed by Prabowo without discrediting the current government.
"Because Prabowo conveyed this economic system not only for four years, but we have to improve many years earlier. So don't make a decision," he said.
