The former economics, finance and industry minister and economist Kwik Kian Gie said that President Joko Widodo had never responded or responded even though he had offered his thoughts on the economy. He revealed this when asked why he was willing to be an economic adviser to the Prabowo-Sandiaga pair, although he was still listed as a PDI-P cadre. "Has Pak Jokowi invited me to speak? No. You know, I didn't take the initiative because he is already a governor, has the president? Already (taken the initiative)," Kwik said when giving information after meeting Prabowo at the Gerindra Party Chair's residence, Jalan Kertanegara, South Jakarta, Monday (09/17/2018) night.
Kwik explained, around 2013 he had met Jokowi when he attended the Indonesian MPR Chair and the husband of PDI-P Chairperson Megawati Soekarno, Taufik Kiemas, at Jalan Teuku Umar, Central Jakarta. At that time Jokowi served as Governor of DKI Jakarta. Kwik suggested that Jokowi utilize his popularity for the interests of the party and the state. According to Kwik, Jokowi should not only pay attention to the affairs of DKI Jakarta Province, but also national interests. Then, said Kwik, Jokowi asked what ideas could be offered. "What is that? Jokowi said. Oh I happened to have a lot of material because I was a long time chair of PDI-P R & D, chairman of the DPP, and representing the PDI was also the deputy chairman of the MPR," he said. Kwik also gave a stack of notes or thoughts in print and digital form. Including a Kwik note entitled "Platform President" he had written in 2004 and 2009.
The record contains Kwik thoughts which are believed to be carried out by a president, especially in the economic field.
However, Jokowi never gave a response or response to the notes he gave. "One word has no reaction, there is no response. So, obviously (being Prabowo's economic adviser)," he said.
